Local Engagement Important to Future of our Company

Laser Process is very keen to promote local relationships that make / strengthen the foundation of our business. Our personal connections & contribution to our local community in relation to local Schools, Colleges & Universities is key to the future of our business. Therefore, we are very keen on Modern Apprenticeships and have recently taken on three more young local people on this scheme.

There’s also evidence that employing apprentices can improve the productivity of your business, with recent research demonstrating both short and long-term gains. A recent study carried out for the Centre for Economics and Business Research found that, on average, each apprentice brings a gain in productivity of more than £10,000 per year for their employer, with figures in some sectors being even higher than this.

As well as boosting productivity, apprenticeships can also help companies to compete in the marketplace. Industry research tells us 77% of employers agree that taking on apprentices helped to make their organisations more competitive. In other areas it was found that more than 8 out of 10 customers prefer to buy from companies which employ apprentices.

The UK currently has its lowest unemployment levels since 1974 & there's strong evidence this is causing a skills gap affecting many organisations and companies across the UK, meaning it is hard to fill vacancies.

However, by recruiting apprentices, you can train people to have the exact skills you need for your business, so investing in the future of your business, another option being to upskill your workforce by offering apprenticeships to your existing staff as a way of improving their training.

In addition to building a company's skills base, providing quality training to apprentices is also likely to bring benefits in terms of staff retention. A major reason for this is that staff typically feel loyal to employers who have invested in their training and are therefore more engaged and motivated to stay & importantly an employee that’s engaged with the business is far more productive.

Apprenticeships are particularly cost-effective as a form of training, because young people are contributing to the workplace while they are learning. Apprentices spend much of their time gaining skills on the job & may attend a training centre one day a week or via block release.
